Sports Parents: It’s Only a Game
Athletes at every level receive a great amount of pressure to succeed. Not only do professional and collegiate athletes endure this stress but young athletes in youth sports are starting to feel the pressure as well. These young athletes aren’t necessarily receiving the grief from their peers or their coaches, but instead they are receiving this pressure from parents. This pressure may seem harmless but can lead to children losing interest in sports. Because of parents rage, unsportsmanlike conduct, and emphasis on winning their kids are losing interest in sports.

This page contains proposal which was the very first step. Before writing the proposal I had to choose my topic. I chose parent's affect on their children's athletics. I thought this would be a good topic because I can easily relate to it because of my involvment in sports.
The Proposal
Being a student athlete, I understand the pressure from others- especially parents, to perform. I want to learn and understand the effect this pressure from parents has on the athlete. The specific topic in my research paper is the effect parents have on their children who play sports. I plan to research and analyze incidents of parents being too involved in their child’s athletic career and also parents who aren’t involved enough. The audience I intend to inform is parents whose children are involved in sports. I intend to inform readers how parents affect their children’s ability perform and their feelings on sports. For this reason, parents who become too involved or not involved enough in their children’s sports have a negative effect on their child.

Here's a video that I found on youtube it displays a dad who takes it too far in his son's wrestling match. This video became pretty famous and was even on national news. Watch to find out more.

Parents are teaching their children to act in unsportsmanlike ways.

A. A parents rage at a youth sporting event can be very frightening and embarrassing for a young athlete.

B. Parents, next time you see a fellow soccer mom or football dad arguing with the referees and spewing out obscenities talk to that parent and explain how this might have an effect on their child
